Whether you are starting your own business, beginning a career in sales, launching a product, or offering a service – Gaining ground with your new business takes time and grit. Click To Tweet
If you’re like me, and you’d like to tighten up the timeframe to reach steady success, the key is this: advertising. Nowadays, there are so many different advertising options available to us as businesspeople. I’ve pulled together a detailed list of each and every avenue you should pursue to try and garner as much exposure for yourself as you can in the new year!
ELECTRONIC ADVERTISING METHODS
I utilize Adwerx to reach a targeted audience online. Where would you like to do business? What area could benefit the most from your services or products? Choose the zip code/s that you’d like to target and purchase an advertising spot. When people in that zip code are searching the web, your little advertisement will follow them around the web. You can see mine exactly how it appears to consumers in 02144 pictured above. Adwerx provides advertising spots for real estate agents as well as other business. Definitely check them out! The company sends me daily emails with my ad’s current stats. As of today, 43,918 people viewed my ad (351 of these views occurred yesterday), and 39 people clicked to my site.
2. Facebook & Instagram AdvertisingWhen it comes to advertising, you'll be successful if you follow one basic rule: go where the people are. Click To Tweet
With today’s internet, that place is Facebook. With a Facebook business page, you can pay to promote your posts, ongoing campaigns you design, and special limited-time-only offers. And each of these promotions can also be set to appear as sponsored posts on Instagram (which is HUGE)!
Having an ongoing advertisement promoting your business on a site where many people linger, is definitely worth the money invested. I spend around $35 / month on my ongoing Facebook advertisement, and you can see the exposure I have received in return. Each day I have at least a handful of new views to my business Facebook page. If your business is new, these numbers are unbeatable.
A great addition to an ongoing business advertisement is a limited-time-only offer. Create a deal and promote it for a short length of time. People love deals, and some scour the internet just to find them. Do this, and watch the calls come in!
3. CRM Email Campaigns
Having people’s contact information – especially email addresses – is so important when starting a new business venture. Store everyone’s contact information, notes on your last conversation, and schedule times to check in with them again in the future. Monthly newsletters or holiday campaigns are two of the best ways to automate email marketing through a CRM. Edit and set your campaigns for business contacts, family, and friends to both keep your business top of mind and always have a personal touch. I am using Business Builder as my CRM at the moment. FACE TO FACE ADVERTISING METHODS
1. Door Knocking
If your business involves making connections and staying top of mind in a certain area, (which most are), door knocking is the best face to face marketing strategy. By picking a neighborhood, or even just a street or two, and door knocking in the evenings between 5:30 PM and 7:00 PM, you have the opportunity to form personal connections with hundreds of potential customers / clients. People remember you when you have a meaningful conversation. And they are less likely to slam the door in your face than they would be to hang up on you if you cold called. The key here is to always bring something of value to leave behind. And make sure to always carry a few pieces marked with a handwritten note of “Sorry I missed you!” for those houses where no one was home.
1. Badges and Pins
Whether it is a name badge or a pin, it is so important that people everywhere know what you do. I wear my Realtor pin every single time I go out. You’d be surprised how many people take it as an invitation to open friendly conversation, questions about my career, and ultimately, business.
It is one of the easiest advertising tactics you can use, and it takes almost no effort. When you wear the badge / pin, the potential clients come to you.
Out Of The Box Advertising Methods
Cut up the bottom so that passersby can rip off a slip with your contact information and HANG THEM EVERYWHERE. I saw someone had done this and hung it up on a board in Porter Square and FOUR of the slips were gone. It’s the easiest, simplest thing to do. It’s definitely more a thing of the past, so you will stand out. AND it’s easy to track. Pass by your flyer a week or two after you hang it, and see if it caught anyones attention!
2. Car Magnets
My Dad and I restored this 1966 Chevy C-10 Stepside, and the first thing I did was order two magnetic signs for it. I’ve made so many connections from this. Not all of them have led directly to clients, but the key with this is exposure. No matter what vehicle you slap the magnetic signs on, you’ve instantly created a memorable advertisement that follows you everywhere you drive. Park in well-trafficked areas. Leave a few of your business cards on the hood or roof of your car. It may not give you instantaneous results, but you’ll certainly see the impact on your business in the long run. I don’t see many of these on the road anymore, so it’s definitely a standout!
Hopefully you can plan to implement at least one or two of these advertising avenues for your business in the new year! Now is the time to begin preparations to start 2018 off with a fantastic marketing strategy!
