Since the moment I hugged my Mimi, breathing in the heady smell of what I learned was Cinnabar, I have been on the hunt for my own perfect scent.
In my early years, I stole a few spritzes here and there. But Cinnabar remained hers. Not mine.
In high school, I thought I’d found it in a bottle of Chanel Mademoiselle. GREAT PERFUME. I mean, wow. This has held its place on my silver tray for years. In fact, it’s still there. I wear it once in a while for old time’s sake. But, on me, the perfume was lacking the sexy and sweet note I craved.
Then I found La Vanilla.
My cousin, Katie, and I met up for drinks. I pulled her in for a hug in front of this little North End restaurant, and I smelled it. A scent so unique, so sweet, and yet so spicy – unlike anything I’d ever smelled before.
All night, people were bumping into Katie in this little, cramped bistro. And every time they said “excuse me” it was followed by a “wow, you smell incredible“.
Parting for the night, I finally had to ask what she was actually wearing.
The scent? La Vanilla.
That’s it. Just plain vanilla perfume. But something about it interacts with the wearer’s skin to make a perfect, individual scent.
After work the next day, I bought a little bottle and a travel roll-on from Sephora. I kid you not, this perfume is SO alluring and smells delicious. Everyone from my Friday night date to my Starbucks barista has loved La Vanilla enough to comment and ask what it is that I’m wearing.
The thing is, this perfume is noticeable, but not overpowering for those of you with sensitive noses. I’ll be wearing this for as long as La Vanilla keeps making it!
