As soon as a trend hits critical mass, a little part of me starts to hate it. The choker has been no exception.
I’ve been a fan of chokers for a while, especially vintage ones, and have developed quite a collection over the years. One of my favorites (black, thin, and velvet) has been a go-to for a while, but I’ve been craving a fresher, more unique look.
How could I reinvent this accessory? How could I make it interesting – make it a statement again?
I have three theories for a twist on the choker:
- Seek out necklaces in different colors and materials. Even metal.
- Choose chokers that are on the thicker side.
- Wear the choker with business attire.
In the above picture, see how I’ve combined all of these theories for a different look. The choker of my choosing is silver with rhinestones. It’s definitely thick, fresh, and fun! I stumbled across this particular piece in an adorable little antique shop in Concord center!
Nestled in the neckline of a silky winter-white blouse under a crisp bolero jacket, it certainly transitioned well from work to play!
What do you think?
