If you don’t have these 5 lipsticks, you NEED them!
I love a good lipstick, and I’m super picky about color, texture, and wear. After trying so many different brands, shades, and formulas, I’ve finally narrowed it down to my top 5 for Spring so that you can purchase with peace of mind.
Here are my picks and whys:
I am so in love with MAC Velvet Teddy. I’ve been wearing this lipstick as my every-day-color for years, and it is still my absolute favorite. A lovely shade of nude with a matte finish, this lipstick somehow makes your lips look oversized and pillowy. And the best thing about it is how it wears throughout the day. I work a long day, but I only need to apply this lipstick twice – once in the morning before work, and once when I leave the office and head out to my late afternoon appointments / evening plans. I usually wear this lipstick as a stand-alone, but it also looks really nice with a bit of gloss or color balm dabbed on top. Overall, this is my #1, ladies. Trust me, and purchase!
Cinn-ful is basically the softer, silkier, glossier version of Velvet Teddy. It settles on the lips with a slightly peachier tone than Velvet Teddy, but it is such a great, different twist on the nude look. Because I normally wear a matte lip, I love this slightly wetter look. I sometimes even swipe a bit on my bottom lip over Velvet Teddy, because they work so well together. The glossiness of this lipstick does fade after a few hours, but the stain of the color remains. I do recommend potentially wearing a lipliner with this if you still want that truly puffy, pouty look!
This is my find-of-a-lifetime – a true red! That’s right. Not orangey, not pinkish. Just RED. This lipstick is matte and applies so well you don’t even need to use a liner. Better yet, it never bleeds. The only think about this lipstick is that it tends to wear well, but can be a bit drying. I solve this problem by making sure to exfoliate my lips well before I know I’m going to wear this out for the night. I’ve actually glossed this up as well, and LOVE the effect! It’s a stunner, but a little stressful since you need to watch out for lipstick on the teeth.
4. YSL #10
This is the baby pink you’ve been looking for! Definitely a splurge, this lipstick’s packaging just screams decadent. It’s creamy with a satiny finish, and it feels really hydrating! I love layering it over nude lipsticks for a subtle ombre look. ps. It even smells amazing…
Everyone needs a solid berry shade in their makeup collection. For me, MAC Capricious is it. This lipstick is perfect for day-to-night looks, and goes with both a naked and smokey eye. I absolutely love the feel of this lipstick. It is so smooth and hydrating. The color wears so well and fades over time leaving a lovely lip stain behind. I never really fell in love with bold pink lipsticks, so this is the perfect in-between shade for me!
